Chipotle
Last Friday was my friend Sanjana’s birthday. To celebrate
we went to Chipotle, a movie and then to the homecoming game. I’ve never been to
Chipotle, so I didn’t know where it was or how to get there or anything. Driving
there turned out to be uneventful, but parking was terrible! My car is quite old,
fittingly named an Oldsmobile. As you can imagine, cars were not at the top of their
game twenty six years ago. So, my car does not really turn sharply and is sort of
long for a small car, so parking is extremely difficult for me. It also doesn’t
help that I am a terrible driver. So after four attempts of trying to park and reverse
and park, I gave up and went to the back of the parking lot with slanted parking
spaces. I had no problem with these. But! When I went to leave that parking lot
several hours later I had forgotten there was cement blocks in front of my car.
Somehow, I managed to run over both of them and stopped with half of my car half
way over them, not knowing what to do. My four passengers suggested backing up,
but I decided to finish the job and go forward. I was terrified my tires would pop
and had my passengers convinced I was not capable of driving them safely. This was
a new experience for me. One I have learned from, and hopefully will never repeat.
