Adventure #5

For this adventure, I participated at my last high school dual meet Cross Country race at Montgomery Hill Park.  Montgomery Hill Park is a trail right behind Evergreen Valley Junior College.  There is very limited shade on the trail, so when the days are hot the course is VERY hot.  Luckily, today was a cool 73 degrees Fahrenheit.  The Cross Country course is 2.75 miles long, and consists of 6 massive hills, one of which we have to run up twice.  So basically, the course is quite challenging.  I ran this course four times freshman year, I did not run at the course at all sophomore year, and then I ran it three times last year.  Last year I got my best time on the course, 14:58, and made the top 15 list. This year, I was hoping to better my best time, but due to injuries my first race did not go that well and I was unable to participate in any races until today.  Luckily, the injuries have mostly subsided and I was able to run decently well today.  I was still almost a minute off my best time, but considering the circumstances, I had a very successful day.  Today made me realize how fast the time has flown by me; it does not seem like the first time I ran at the course was over 4 years ago.  Although there have been up and downs (literally, this course has tons of ups and downs), I am happy to have competed at Montgomery Hill, and finishing my last race today leaves me with a bit of nostalgia.
